Exhibitor Interview: Plastics App

We had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Yanir Shaked, General Manager of Plastics App, a pioneering compounding lab founded in 2014.

 

Can you provide a brief overview of your company and the products/services you'll be showcasing at the event?

Plastics App is a fast moving, compounding innovation lab, and a prototype scale designer-compounds & filaments manufacturer.​  Founded in 2014, Plastics App is pioneering compounding lab with it’s team led by Dr. Yanir Shaked, one of Israel’s lead Plastics Engineers known worldwide for Compounding, Reactive extrusion, and Bio-Plastics.  The team gathers exceptional engineering & scientific, multi-disciplinary academic expertise and rich industrial experience.

Plastics App will be showcasing some of it’s breakthrough innovations in the field of sustainability, electrical and thermal conductivity and carbon footprint reduction.

What recent trends or developments in the industry are you most excited about, and how do your products/services align with them?

Plastics App excels in sustainable solutions.  A Major portion of it’s activity is sustainability related including – Biodegradable polymers, Post consumer recycled, and recovery of non-recyclable waste.  We have some very special knowhow & capabilities to handle natural feed stock as well as irregular shape materials enabling us to realize the most challenging compounds that address the global warming crises.

 

Could you share a success story or case study demonstrating how your products/services have benefited a customer?

With our customer, Balena, we have developed the first of it’s kind biobased & biodegradable elastomer.  Balena now sell, it’s already scaled up compound, world wide for the manufacturing of shoes and other fashion related products.  Using the same patented technology, we have in the pipeline more innovative biobased and biodegradable compositions for automotive applications and durable goods.

 

Will you be conducting any demonstrations or interactive activities at the event? If so, what can attendees expect?

We have in our booth a “show & tell” display showcasing some of our innovative compounds and applications.  You can touch, feel, and get technical insights of the matter.

 

What are your company's goals for the future, and how do you see yourselves contributing to the evolving industry landscape?

Plastics App is creating growth engines for their customers, whether compounders or final application users.  We look into globally spreading the word of our activity pouring value into the value chain of compounds.

 

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s show?

We look forward to meeting new people who will bring new challenges to us.  Identify the future megatrends of our industry and align accordingly with relevant knowhow and capabilities.
