Exhibitor interview: Polytechs
Find out more about exhibitor Polytechs in our interview with their Sales Director, Maarten Bloem.
Polytechs is an independent company whose main activity is the custom work of compounds, masterbatches and compacted additives for polymer producers and processors. In addition to this specific activity, there is also the production and marketing of a wide range of additive masterbatches.
With 40 years of experience, Polytechs is now a leader in the industry, known most widely for the flexibility of its production tool as well as the quality of the products and service it offers. With a production capacity of 35,000 tons per year, and more than 160 employees, their products are sold worldwide.
What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?
At Polytechs we are a 4 I company : independent / innovative / international / investment (ability to). We have different techniques in house to service our Toll manufacturing capabilities. Which allows us to produce special additive masterbatches and compounds. We are also high skilled at the reactive extrusion process. All these factors combined means we can compact neat additive blends and handle liquids and low melted polymer additives.
Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?
We are working on developing our reactive extrusion as well as compaction technology and powder handling.
What are the biggest challenges facing the industry today and how can this be overcome?
We must move towards a circular economy to deal with plastic waste. What can we do about this:
- Creation of domestic markets for recycled plastics
- Ensuring material applicability in our manufacturing process
- Substitution of virgin materials
- Cooperation on plastic waste recycling within the value chain.
How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?
Moving to recycled polymers as our main base load for additive masterbatches and compounds.
What are you most looking forward to at this years’ show?
To meet (potential) customers and to discuss their needs, to be, luckily, externally present again in the world of compounding.
Polytechs will be exhibiting at Plastics Extrusion World Expo Europe.
