Speaker interview: Klaus Rathberger, Georg H. Luh

In our latest speaker interview series we spoke to Klaus Rathberger, General Manager at  Georg H. Luh.

As the managing director of a small and therefore flexible company, Klaus is involved in almost all areas of the company. What is m ost important and interesting for him is working with colleagues for customers. It is Klaus greatest joy to create solutions, solve challenges and enjoy success together with colleagues and customers.

What are the biggest challenges facing the market today and how can this be overcome?

Markets go through fast and sometimes quite unexpected changes. One of the main tasks to cope with these changes is: how to stay sensitive to new trends and developments and stay flexible to adapt your technology fast.

In your opinion, what do you consider to be the greatest development in your industry in the last 3 years?

Materials and technologies for a sustainable life and economy: Powerful heat management additives, environmentally friendly flame retardants, optimised carbon materials for innovation in battery and fuel cell technology.

How do you see the sector developing in the next two to five years?

Technology shifting away from fossil fuel is taking up pace and is now on the agenda of many countries worldwide. This will give a major boost to all companies and solution providers in that field.

You will be speaking at AMI’s plastics industry expos in Europe in September, could you give us a preview on what you will be talking about?

Graphite is an extremely versatile additive for technical compounds. From halogen free flame retardant additive to high end conductive applications or lubrication tasks. Graphite is a powerful additive to cope with all those requirements, either in combination or highly specialised for a single purpose.

Klaus will be speaking about 'Using graphite additives to enhance flame retardancy, conductivity and lubrication' at the Compounding World Expo Europe conference.
